Basketball News and Notes: Early Practice Edition

USA TODAY Sports

There hasn't been much in the way of real basketball news since practice opened a week ago. However here are a few news items.

  • UNC has announced full details with Late Night with Roy on Friday, October 25th. Unlike previous seasons where this occurred before practice even opened, Late Night is now happening a month later. It will be interesting to see how much that changes what we see in the scrimmage that is part of this event. There is also a question of whether P.J. Hairston plays or might he sit as a part of ongoing internal discipline. One would hope a final decision on his status for the season would be made by then but with the NCAA I wouldn't hold my breath.
  • According to ESPN's Andy Katz, UNC will play in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas next season. Georgetown, Florida, Butler and UCLA are also expected to be part of the field.
  • Rasheed Wallace looks very happy to be taking his official picture as a Detroit Pistons' assistant coach.

  • Hey Northwestern, this is completely unacceptable.
