ACC Tournament: UNC 10 Miami 0 (8)

Well. that's one way to get the mojo back.

The Tar Heels did everything right at the plate and in the field on the way to a 10-0 pasting of Miami in game shortened to eight innings by the ACC Tournament mercy-rule. It was the first time in three straight tries UNC has beaten Miami in ACC Tournament play.

Kent Emanuel had one spot of trouble in eight shutout innings, two walks to lead off the second inning but wiggled out of trouble with the assistance of a rare and difficult to execute 3-6-1 double play. On the day Emanuel gave up just four hits and threw a tidy 96 pitches in shutting down the Hurricanes.

At the plate, North Carolina repeatedly hit balls of the Durham Baseball Athletic Park "blue monster" jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first and never looking back. Colin Moran drove in his 84th run on the year setting a new UNC record for RBIs in a season. Brian Holberton and Cody Stubbs had three RBIs apiece to pace the Tar Heel offense.

Looking at North Carolina's pool, NC State knocked off Clemson 6-2 on Wednesday and is now tied with the Heels at 1-0. NC State will face Miami on Friday while UNC gets Clemson. At this point there is a strong possibility the two rivals will meet on Saturday night for a berth in the ACC title game.

Benton Moss will go for the Heels on Friday against Clemson. Game time is 7 PM.
