What does 35 points and a game winner versus NC State get you? A second straight Player of the Week honor in the ACC.

Paige scored 31 of his career-high 35 points in the second half and overtime – including the game-winning basket with 0.9 seconds to play – in UNC’s 85-84 win at NC State last Wednesday night. The Marion, Iowa, native went 11-of-21 from the floor, including a career-high 7-of-12 from 3-point range. Paige connected on five threes in the second half and two more in overtime. Both of his threes in overtime came with UNC trailing by six points. Paige’s 35 points were the most by a Tar Heel since Harrison Barnes had 40 vs. Clemson in 2011. The seven 3-pointers were the most by a UNC player since Will Graves hit seven vs. Dayton in 2010. Paige added nine points in Saturday’s 60-56 win at Virginia Tech and did not commit a turnover. He had one turnover in 71 minutes in last week’s two games.

Marcus Paige has solidified himself as a likely choice for First Team All-ACC and is in the discussion for ACC Player of the Year. At this point I am not sure Paige gets the latter but there are still two games left including one at #4 Duke to state his the second half naturally.
