At last a playoff. Here's the schedule.
Rose Bowl: #2 Oregon vs #3 Florida State, 5:00 PM, ESPN
Sugar Bowl: #1 Alabama vs #4 Ohio State, 8:30 PM, ESPN
Florida State which has been perpetually frowned upon by talking heads and the CFP selection committee alike heads back to the site of their triumph in the 2014 BCS title game over Auburn. FSU is also looking for a 30th straight win and a shot at repeating as national champions.
The ACC is presently 4-5 in the bowl games(5-5 if you count Notre Dame) with FSU and Pitt still to play. Despite the record the league scored two impressive wins in recent days. One was Clemson without Deshaun Watson beating Oklahoma like a drum and Georgia Tech running roughshod over Mississippi State last night in the Orange Bowl. In fact the ACC has had just two games go really poorly. One was UNC's loss to Rutgers and Louisville's loss to Georgia. Duke, Miami and Boston College all lost in close games while NC State and Virginia Tech played well.
The point? The ACC and therefore Florida State's resume might not be quite as weak as people made it out. Of course that's all meaningless now. FSU has a chance to prove the doubters and haters wrong on the field starting at 5 PM.
