Marcus Paige has been named as the league top play in the preseason poll for the second straight year this time sharing it with Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon. Paige was also named to the All-ACC First Team with Brice Johnson snagging a spot on the All-ACC Second Team.

UNC is the #1 pick for the media with 60 first place votes, one of six teams to get at least one first place vote. Virginia got 18 first place votes. The Cavaliers will again end up with a slightly easier schedule than UNC so it would not be surprising if Virginia found a way to finish atop the league standings for a third straight season.
