Second time for the junior guard from Marion, IA

University of North Carolina junior guard MARCUS PAIGE was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Division I men’s basketball second team for the second consecutive year, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.
Paige is Carolina’s leading scorer at 13.3 points per game and leads the team in assists (126), three-point field goals (65) and steals (39). The Marion, Iowa, native also sports a 3.39 grade point average while majoring in journalism and history.
Paige is the third Tar Heel men’s basketball player to earn Academic All-America honors in two different seasons. Tommy LaGarde was a second-team selection in 1975 and a first-teamer in 1976; Tyler Zeller earned first-team honors in both 2011 and 2012.
One other Atlantic Coast Conference player, Wayne Blackshear of Louisville, also earned honors on the second team.
The first team is comprised of Academic All-America of the Year Matt Townsend of Yale, Thomas van der Mars of the University of Portland, Chasson Randle of Stanford, Tyler Harvey of Eastern Washington and Shavon Shields of the University of Nebraska.
The College of Charleston's Canyon Barry, Alex Barlow of Butler and Levi Randolph of Alabama join Paige and Blackshear on the second team.
