Both the Tar Heel men's and women's lacrosse teams will enter the NCAA Tournament as one of the eight seeded teams and will host early round games.
The UNC men(12-3 overall) were knocked out of the ACC Tournament by Syracuse 9-8 on April 24th for a second straight one goal loss. The Heels fell at #1 Notre Dame six days prior when the Irish scored three goals in the final minute plus to take a 15-14 win. Those two losses probably hurt UNC's seeding but the Tar Heels are still the #3 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The men's team will begin its quest for the school's first Final Four trip in 22 years at Fetzer Feld on Sunday, May 10 at 5:15 pm against Patriot League champion Colgate. Should UNC advance, the Heels would face the winner of #6 Maryland-Yale on May 17th in Annapolis.
On the women's side, the Tar Heels(15-3 overall) lost the ACC title game to Syracuse in sudden death on April 25th and will head to the NCAA Tournament seeded #2 overall. UNC will face the winner of Stanford-Florida at Fetzer Field on Sunday, May 10 at 1:00 PM.
The Tar Heel women won the ACC regular season but came up just short of winning the ACC Tournament. UNC won the NCAA title in 2013 and will be looking for to return to the Final Four after losing to Virginia in the round of eight last season.
