IC: Roy to Get Contract Extension

Greg Barnes at Inside Carolina is reporting that the University of North Carolina is in the process of finalizing a contract extension for head basketball coach Roy Williams.

Needless to say this is an interesting development in light of the release of the NCAA's notice of allegations on Thursday in which neither Williams nor the men's basketball team was mentioned specifically.

There were certainly radical doom-and-gloomers who predicted that Williams would not survive the academic fraud allegations, but the relatively benign NOA would seem to indicate otherwise.

No word on when Patrick O'Neill will pen his next op-ed for the N&O.
