Tar Heel Illustrated | Andrew Jones: With the pain of what happened in Houston earlier this year still lingering, UNC basketball feels fueled to work harder and be better. These Heels will have to do it without Marcus Paige or Brice Johnson, but seeing them leave without a championship may motivate them to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

GoHeels.com | Adam Lucas: Sophomores Kenny Williams and Luke Maye have made noticeable improvements over last season, according to their teammates and coaches. Maye’s rebounding and Williams’ outside shot could both be vital for Carolina this season, and they have a whole year under their belts now to know what they need to do.

Burlington Times-News | Adam Smith: After having to sit down far more than he would have liked last season, Roy Williams is feeling much better after knee surgery this offseason. Coach is back to golfing and taking part in practice which he wasn’t able to do with the pain in his knee.

Greensboro News & Record | Brant Wilkerson-New: Roy Williams compared losing Paige and Johnson to the U.S. Ryder Cup team losing Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. UNC didn’t just lose two players; they lost their best two players. The rest of the team now has to step up and fill that void.
