Where’s the conference at heading into week seven?

Last week saw two crucial conference games, both having an effect on the Coastal Division outlook. With week six in the books, how is the conference shaping up?

1. Clemson (6-0 overall, 3-0 ACC)

The Tigers cruised to an easy win over Boston College last weekend. This week’s game against NC State might be a tricky one if Clemson is looking ahead to Florida State. The Tigers should still win, setting up a huge game against FSU.

Next: vs. NC State

2. Louisville (4-1 overall, 2-1 ACC)

After a bye week, Lamar Jackson and the Cardinals return to the field this weekend. Louisville should be able to pile up the wins the next couple weeks.

Next: vs. Duke

3. Virginia Tech (4-1 overall, 2-0 ACC)

With Miami’s loss and the Hokies’ victory over UNC, Virginia Tech looks like the Coastal Division favorite. They still have several tests left on their schedule, but at least for now, they control their own fate.

Next: at Syracuse

4. Florida State (4-2 overall, 1-2 ACC)

FSU picked up a huge win at Miami last weekend, and appeared to right themselves a bit in the process. They probably can’t win the Atlantic Division, but they still have a marquee game against Clemson left on the schedule.

Next: vs. Wake Forest

5. Miami (4-1 overall, 1-1 ACC)

Despite suffering their first loss of the season, the Hurricanes still look like a good team. We’ll know a lot more about them and the next team after this weekend.

Next: vs. North Carolina

6. North Carolina (4-2 overall, 2-1 ACC)

The Tar Heels drop a bit after losing to Virginia Tech. In terms of the Coastal race, the upcoming UNC-Miami game might be the biggest for both teams this season.

7. NC State (4-1 overall, 1-0 ACC)

State won a very weird, weather-affected game against Notre Dame. The Wolfpack still have a very tough schedule ahead, but with what they’ve done so far, they look like a bowl team at the very least.

Next: at Clemson

8. Pitt (4-2 overall, 1-1 ACC)

It took a last second field goal off the upright, but Pitt picked up a win over Georgia Tech last weekend. The Panthers continue to hang around, still sorta in the Coastal Division picture.

Next: at Virginia

9. Wake Forest (5-1 overall, 2-1 ACC)

The Demon Deacons are now just one win away from going to a bowl. That was not something that was expected before the season.

Next: at Florida State

10. Georgia Tech (3-3 overall, 1-3 ACC)

After starting 3-0, the Yellow Jackets have dropped three straight to fall to .500. Their upcoming game against Georgia Southern has become pretty crucial to their chances of making a bowl game.

Next: vs. Georgia Southern

11. Duke (3-3 overall, 0-2 ACC)

The Blue Devils picked up a win over Army to get back to .500. It’s difficult to see them getting six wins with their schedule, but they do appear to be one of the better teams towards the bottom of the conference.

Next: at Louisville

12. Virginia (2-3 overall, 1-0 ACC)

After a bye week, Virginia has a chance to improve on their undefeated conference record. They probably won’t, but they have been playing better of late.

Next: vs. Pitt

13. Syracuse (2-4 overall, 0-2 ACC)

Syracuse’s offense had started off the season putting up a decent amount of points. However last week, they put up just nine against Wake Forest.

Next: vs. Virginia Tech

14. Boston College (3-3 overall, 0-3 ACC)

The Eagles lost a conference game. Water is wet.
