Women’s Soccer: W 3-0 vs. Pitt
North Carolina had an easy victory over Pittsburgh, scoring their first goal in the 15th minute off the foot of B. Andrzejewski. Megan Buckingham scored in the 52nd minute with an assist from Julia Ashley. Two minutes later, Ru Mucherera scored the final UNC goal. In total, they took 11 shots against Pitt’s three.
Friday, October 21st
Volleyball: W 3-0 vs. Boston College
UNC continued their perfect record against ACC opponents, easily defeating Boston College. Taylor Treacy led the way with 15 kills, Abigail Curry had 22 assists and nine digs, and Mariah Evans had nine assists. Taylor Leath had 12 digs and Sheila Doyle had nine.
Saturday, October 22nd
Field Hockey: L 0-3 vs. Duke
No. 4 Duke beat up on the No. 2 Tar Heels on Saturday as goalkeeper Alex Halpin was unable to hold off the onslaught. She made six saves, but could not keep UNC in the game. Blue Devils goalkeeper Sami Steele, meanwhile, made a total of eight saves to maintain the lead. With the ACC Field Hockey Championships coming up, UNC’s 12-4 overall record, but 3-3 conference record doesn’t speak well for their playoff chances.
Men’s Soccer: W 2-0 vs. Virginia Tech
The No. 3 ranked North Carolina defeated the No. 23 ranked Virginia Tech to remain 5-1-1 in ACC play. David October scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick at 17 minutes. The game remained scoreless until Tucker Hume scored at 87 minutes with help from Nils Bruening. UNC had five shots on goal against Tech’s three, and goalkeeper James Pyle made three saves.
Sunday, October 23rd
Women’s Soccer: W 3-1 vs. Syracuse
North Carolina came away with a win thanks to the skills of Bridgette Andrzejewski. Megan Buckingham got UNC on the board 12 minutes in with an assist from Maya Worth, and Andrzejewski scored at 22 minutes. Syracuse scored in the 44th minute, but Andrzejewski answered back with her second goal of the game at 52 minutes. The Tar Heels had five shots on goal, and goalkeeper Lindsey Harris made five saves.
Field Hockey: W 5-1 vs. Liberty
The Tar Heels plowed through Liberty as Lauren Moyer scored just five minutes into the game with an assist from Eef Andriessen. She scored a second time just three minutes later on a penalty corner shot, assisted by Gab Major and Julia Young. Malin Evert scored in the 28th minute, and Ashley Hoffman scored in the 30th minutes to enter half time up 4-0. In the second half, Liberty managed to score in the 59th minute, but Evert scored her second goal in the 63rd minute to seal the win.
Volleyball: W 3-0 vs. Syracuse
Two days after defeating Boston College, UNC cut through Syracuse as well. Taylor Tracy had 11 kills, while Taylor Leath had 11 and six digs. Abigail Curry accumulated 16 assists with eight digs, Mariah Evans had 18 assists and five digs, and Sheila Doyle had 10 digs.
