Tar Heels News 11/11/16: P.J. Washington passes up UNC for Kentucky

What went wrong in Durham & a bad day for basketball recruiting

NCAA Basketball: Tulane at North Carolina Rob Kinnan-USA TODAY Sports

GoHeels.com | Turner Walston: With their loss to the Blue Devils on Thursday night, the Tar Heels got a taste of what it was like to be on the more unfortunate side of that rivalry. The Victory Bell belongs to Duke, at least for the next year. It’s a disappointing outcome for a team that shouldn’t have been in a position to lose.

Carolina Blue | Ross Martin: Larry Fedora attempted to explain what went wrong in Durham on Thursday. He pointed to the inability to make plays, like dropped passes and the defense being unable to get off the field. Duke didn’t necessarily do anything special to win, it’s just that the Tar Heels didn’t do enough.

ESPN | Jared Shanker: Ryan Switzer is a special player on the football field, but absolutely everything he does off of it is special as well. Switzer has a special bond with his friend Cliff back home in West Virginia. The two have been friends for 11 years, and have an incredibly special bond that has helped Cliff blossom.

Rivals | Eric Bossi: Nevada forward P.J. Washington proved a lot of speculation true on Thursday when he formally committed to playing basketball at Kentucky next year. UNC was among Washington’s Top 3 schools, but it had been long believed that Washington would ultimately end up in Lexington next season. That proved to be the case. Thursday wasn’t a great day for the Tar Heels on the recruiting front, as both their targets who announced yesterday chose to take their talents elsewhere next year.
