We are quickly closing out 2016 and approaching the new year. What better time is there than now to reflect and list our favorite North Carolina sports moments? Our staff sent theirs’ in and this is what they listed:
Jason: Nick Weiler's game-winning punt against FSU.
Paul: When the students greeted the basketball team on campus after they came back from the national championship.
Michael: I’m selfish, but my favorite moment would have to be when UNC played Miami in basketball at home last year. It was my first time attending a game and it seemed like UNC won by 500 points.
Tanya: Marcus Paige's game-tying three in the National Championship game. :(
Jake: 1) Starting to write for this blog. 2) The run to the Final Four. You win some and you lose some, but I loved that team. Incredible representatives for the school.
Matt: For me it was the win over Notre Dame to advance to the Final Four. Last year's team was probably my favorite Carolina basketball team ever. For them to get to the final weekend after was a relief and just made me happy.
Akil: Back-to-back championships in men's and women's lacrosse. Re-established us as the University of National Championships.
Evan: Beating Duke at Cameron to win the ACC regular season. Johnson outrebounded the entire Duke team and Paige hit four free throws in a row to seal the win.
2016 was very good to UNC athletics. Let’s hope 2017 can be just as good. If you want, list your favorite moments below in the comments.
