UNC vs Stanford Sun Bowl 2016 Gamethread

Ivan Pierre Aguirre-USA TODAY Sports

UNC football plays their final game of the season from El Paso in the Sun Bowl this afternoon in a date with Stanford. After a rather disappointing finish to the season, the biggest storyline for the Tar Heels may likely be whether or not this will be Mitch Trubisky's final game in Carolina blue or not. His name has been highly ranked on NFL draft boards this season, but he has not announced his decision so far.

The Tar Heels will also have to win without running back Elijah Hood. Hood is injured, but did announce that he'd be returning to UNC for his senior season in 2017. Senior TJ Logan will get the reps at running back in the Sun Bowl, and deservedly so after a great season. Today will also be UNC fans' last chance to see Ryan Switzer in a Carolina uniform. The wide receiver has been fantastic in his time in Chapel Hill and will be sorely missed next year.

Hopefully this bowl game goes better for UNC than last year's did. Some ugly losses to Duke and NC State at the end of the year put a real damper on the excitement for the bowl game, but they can still close the year out and head into next season with some positive momentum with a win today.

You can watch the game on CBS at 2:00 pm ET. Go Heels!
