By now you know Brian announced last week that he, Chris, and I will ride off into the sunset together and hand the blog off to a new generation. But before the final credits roll, I wanted to say a few words.
It has been my pleasure to write for THB for the past six years. This blog has grown from a fan blog to a credentialed media outlet, and we did it it by playing it straight down the middle, covering the UNC sports scene with the smartest staff (seriously, two doctorates and a masters among the three of us has to be unique, right?) and more important, the smartest readers around. The blog and its staff have been embraced by fans, the media, and the University itself. I couldn't be more proud of what the blog became under Brian's leadership and direction.
As for me personally, what a ride it has been. From proving in the first days of the UNC scandal that Marvin Austin was NOT tweeting from inside Club Liv (a mistake that still gets cited, by the way), to covering Tar Heel sports' highs and lows, I have had the opportunity to write about so many things. Also I've been excoriated on Pack Pride and even made an appearance in the Wainstein report, so that's a pretty full six years. Along the way I have made friends in cyber-land and in real life, and never thought I would have nearly 3,500 Twitter followers who would give a flying flip about anything I had to say. I am humbled, dear reader, and I want to say thank you for reading and for following the blog.
Most important, I want to say thanks to El Jefe, Brian Barbour, for asking me to join the team after being a commenter on THF and contributor to Thee Sports Blog all those years ago. Like I said, what he has built with this site has been incredible and I am glad to have been the Riker to his Picard.
As for me, I'll still be on the Twitters and will likely do some writing across various platforms. Again, thank you for your loyalty to this blog and for your time and interest over the past six years. In the meantime, allow me to say:
