Marcus Paige Selected in 2nd Round of the NBA Draft

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Make that two Tar Heels on draft night.

The Utah Jazz(via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets) have selected Marcus Paige with the 55th pick in the draft. Paige, who entered the draft with borderline second round prospects will get a chance to earn a spot with the Jazz.

Paige had a breakout season as a sophomore then struggled with a foot injury as a junior. His senior season was expected to be a player of the year type of campaign. Early in the season, after Paige returned from a broken bone in his hand, it looked like that. However as ACC play started rolling, Paige began to struggle with his three point shot and scoring in general.  UNC managed and Paige's shot returned in the NCAA Tournament including the epic shot that almost saved UNC from a heartbreaking defeat.

Paige's selections brings UNC to 110 players taken in the draft and 21 under Roy Williams. He is the fifth second round selection in the Williams era.
