Daily Tar Heel | Kirk Meyer: The Tar Heels will be without wide receiver Mack Hollins in the first half of the season opener against Georgia, but Larry Fedora has his guys ready to pick up the slack. Mitch Trubisky will also be stepping into the role of starting quarterback with everyone’s full confidence.

Inside Carolina | Greg Barnes: With just a few days to go before the start of the football season, players battling for the right guard and punter position still don’t know who has won the job. In “not exactly what you want to hear” news, Fedora was asked if he had confidence that Australian punter Tom Sheldon was ready to play and Fedora replied that he “didn’t have a whole lot of confidence in anything right now” which was hopefully some kind of understatement.

Carolina Blue | Ross Martin: Roy Williams talks about the dramatic change in recruiting over the last four years and how difficult it is now with added outside influence and some players choosing to pass up home visits or even school visits. Coach also discussed the impact of the NCAA scandal on his program, of course.

Athlon Sports | Steven Lassan: Which 40 players are set for breakout seasons as football gets underway? The lone Carolina representative on the list is Mitch Trubisky. Lassan notes that there is a high degree of confidence that Trubisky won’t represent a marked downgrade from Marquise Williams at quarterback as he tries to continue the success that Williams started on his way to second team All-ACC honors a year ago.
