For those on the East Coast, tonight is going to be tough. UNC’s game against Stanford is going to tip around 11:30 pm, ensuring that the final buzzer will sound well into Tuesday morning. It’s going to be a long night.
The Heels are on the West Coast to take part in the PK80 tournament later this week while making a stop in Stanford to play old friend Jerod Haase’s Cardinal team. Haase was, of course, an assistant coach under Roy Williams until departing for a head coaching gig a few years ago.
Carolina is happy to have the services of Joel Berry II back following his broken hand to start the season, but they’ll still need to win without Cameron Johnson. Johnson is recovering from surgery on his knee after a torn meniscus.
UNC got some surprisingly good production from freshmen bigs Garrison Brooks and Sterling Manley in their win over Bucknell at the Smith Center last week. Manley came off the bench to put up a double-double. Williams will be looking for continued progress out of his young guys in the post tonight.
If this is your first time joining us, welcome to Tar Heel Blog! We’re glad you’re here. As always, we’ll be back after the game with a full wrap up of the happenings.
Go Heels!
