Operation: Deny Revenge

NCAA Basketball: Western Carolina at North Carolina Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The Tar Heels are coming off final exams as they head to Knoxville for a date with the 20th ranked Volunteers. Tennessee’s motivation is an easy one: get revenge for last year’s narrow loss in Chapel Hill. Something will have to give when these two teams square off this afternoon.

UNC is coming off a blowout victory against Western Carolina in which they set a school record in three-point percentage. The Volunteers are coming off four straight wins, including victories over ACC competition like NC State and Georgia Tech. Rick Barnes’ teams have historically played Roy Williams’ teams very tough. Barnes is 6-6 against Roy.

Tennessee very narrowly handed the Heels a loss last season at the Dean Dome. The eventual national champions needed a late rally and an even later block by Tony Bradley to escape with the W. UT has been an even tougher out so far this year, and they’ll need to deny them any hopes of revenge in a difficult road environment.

We will be back after the game, as always, with the complete roundup. Until then...

Go Heels!
