National Signing Day 2017: Tracking the newest Tar Heels for UNC football

As we kick off the second month of 2017, it’s also time to welcome a new group of football players into the Tar Heel family. While the majority of National Signing Day is merely a formality with most players already clearly indicating whether or not they’ll be putting on Carolina blue in the fall, there is still a bit of work to be done.

The Tar Heels await the decisions of Dazz Newsome, A.J. Davis, and Ameer Speed. Just last night they got a commitment from their second kicker this week in Cooper Graham.

UNC football will look a bit different when they take the field again later this year. So many familiar faces have moved on to bigger and better things, or were forced to depart through graduation. Those faces will be replaced by new ones. Lots of them being the guys signing on as Tar Heels today.

These newcomers and the guys returning from seasons past look to continue to elevate the reputation of North Carolina football. Can this group of players get back to the ACC Championship game as they did two seasons ago? Will they be able to make Carolina the basketball school that can do football too, thank you very much?

We’ll see. It starts today. We’ll be here throughout the day for information on all the happenings as they happen.
