Three-star recruit Dazz Newsome out of Hampton, Virginia, announced that he will sign with North Carolina on National Signing Day. Newsome was originally committed to playing at Maryland before decommitting while on his official visit to Chapel Hill.
Clearly those feelings stuck, as Newsome selected the Tar Heels over the Terps and Virginia Tech Hokies earlier this morning. As you can see in the video below, Newsome shows up in a Maryland jacket and initially reaches for the Virginia Tech visor on the table before ultimately putting on the UNC cap and revealing Carolina blue underneath his coat. You can watch the events unfold in the video below.
The Virginia native will likely play for the Tar Heels as a cornerback despite being currently listed as ATH. He was ranked 30th in the state of Virginia in the class of 2017 and 69th at his position.
With Newsome’s commitment, the Carolina football class of 2017 is complete. All letters of intent are signed and delivered. Welcome to the Tar Heel family!
