I don't remember a time in my life when I didn't hate Duke. I'm sure my first breaths taken in the world didn't involve hating everything about that ugly shade of blue and all those who are not ashamed to admit they are a fan of the Blue Devils, but I have no memories where I didn't feel that way.
I'm told all my favorite clothes as a child were light blue. My favorite pacifier was light blue. My room, as soon as I could voice my opinion, was painted light blue. I love the Tar Heels more than I love almost anything, and that means that I hate Duke. It's a burning hatred that lives inside me at all times and bubbles over two or more times per year. They are the enemy and they must be crushed.
The Tar Heels head into enemy territory tonight to do battle. They fight for all of us, trying to make sure that we are the ones who can gloat tomorrow. They fight the good fight, and so we must do our part wherever we may be. Put on that lucky shirt, sit in that lucky spot, drink out of that lucky cup from He's Not. Do whatever you have to do to ensure the balance of the universe works out for the good guys.
You can watch tonight's game on ESPN at 8:00 pm.
As always, Go Heels!
