Have a passion for writing about the Tar Heels? THB is looking for new voices!

It has been about 11 months since I became managing editor of Tar Heel Blog, and yet (as cliché as it sounds) it also sort of seems like yesterday. What an amazing year it has been for North Carolina athletics, and getting to cover it as part of the gig here has been incredible.

When I was handed the keys to the THB kingdom I basically had to build a staff from scratch. The guys I have found to help me here impress me every single day with their knowledge, passion, determination, and devotion to making this site such a great resource about all things Carolina. There is no possible way I could do this without them.

In the last year I think we’ve done some pretty incredible things. We’ve grown our readership and expanded our coverage. I’m so proud to be a part of what’s going on here. Now we’re looking for some more voices to add to our team.

Football season will be upon us before you know it, and THB hopes to cover it as many ways as possible. After that? The reigning national champions will be back for another season at the Dean Dome, and talking about their chances of making another deep run in April will have us all immersed once again.

If you think you have a unique perspective you can add to our team, or just think that covering the Tar Heels for other people to read sounds like a pretty fun hobby, I’d love to hear from you. Is there something missing from THB that you think you could bring to the site? I’d love to discuss that with you.

If you are interested in joining our team, here’s how to do it:

Send an email to with a brief bio (how old are you, where did you go to school, how did you become a Carolina fan, etc) and a response to one of the two following prompts. I’ll accept submissions through next Friday, May 26th. Your response should be between 800 and 1000 words, ideally.

  1. Which current member of the Tar Heel basketball team takes the biggest step forward next season?
  2. What does the Carolina football team need to do in order to stay relevant through a potential rebuilding phase?

If you have any questions about your submission or anything THB related I’d be happy to answer. Just shoot me an email at the above address and we’ll talk. Thank you to those interested in joining us, and thank you to those of you who read this site every day. We appreciate you and fully intend to give you more of what brings you back each time.
