It turns out the quarterbacks in the Class of 2018 were paying attention to the NFL Draft after all.

After wowing coaches at camp in Chapel Hill on Tuesday afternoon, quarterback Tyler Shough wasted little time upon returning home to Chandler, AZ, in becoming the 7th member of the Heels’ next recruiting class.
Currently ranked the 10th-best pro-style QB in the nation (252nd best player overall) by 247Sports, Shough is a huge get and helps clear up a murky UNC quarterbacking situation going into the end of the decade.
With grad transfer Brandon Harris set to graduate after the season, the Heels are left with junior Nathan Elliott and sophomores Chazz Surratt and Logan Byrd on the roster.
Enter Shough.
Shough is the first of two expected quarterback commits in this class. Given his stature, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being the only one. The 6’5, 195 lb. passer boasts offers from everywhere— Michigan was considered the favorite to land his services. Other highlights showing offers on 247 include Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State.
Shough represents the first UNC commit from Arizona since running back Jamal Womble, whom we all remember fondly.
With Fedora’s Freak Show, the biggest annual recruiting event for the Tar Heels, coming up this Saturday, expect more good news on the recruiting front this week.
