Isaiah Hicks was not among the prospects drafted by NBA teams, but he will be continuing his playing career as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers. According to TNT reporter David Aldridge, the deal happened just before 1 am this morning.
When Hicks was at his best for the Tar Heels, he was a force in the paint who could score reliably and knock down free throws in crucial moments. Perhaps none of these bigger than his points scored toward the end of the national championship that buoyed Carolina’s last push to victory.
Unfortunately, Hicks’ senior campaign was full of foul trouble at every turn. He will get a slight reprieve with that at the next level with an additional foul to work with, but it certainly cost him valuable minutes in his final year with the Tar Heels because he was unable to stay on the floor for long stretches of time.
Hicks joins fellow Tar Heels Justin Jackson, Tony Bradley, and Kennedy Meeks as those that have received good news so far. Hopefully Nate Britt can find something as well.
