The NBA Draft has come and gone, and three former Tar Heels did not hear their names called. Isaiah Hicks, Kennedy Meeks, and Nate Britt, all seniors on Carolina’s championship team, went undrafted. It wasn’t really a surprise, as none of them were projected to be taken in the first or second round. However, the book is not closed on them as professionals.
It wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see any of these guys given some sort of chance by an NBA team. A couple undrafted players have already heard from teams, such as Nevada’s Cameron Oliver and Villanova’s Kris Jenkins. There will be plenty more, to be sure. Hicks and Meeks have the best chance of getting a spot of some kind in the coming days.
Regardless of whether their next stop is the NBA, the G-League, Europe, or elsewhere, these guys all left Carolina as champions. The road doesn’t have to end at going undrafted. Hopefully they find a situation that is best for them and their journey toward continuing their dream of playing basketball.
