The five-star wide receiver was bumped up to the No. 9 player in the country by 247sports.

The Jordyn Adams hype train got a little extra fuel on Monday when 247sports released their updated rankings of the class of 2018 following Nike’s The Opening. Adams committed to the Tar Heels at the event as a four-star wide receiver, and the consensus then was that he was in a great position to earn that fifth star. That is exactly what happened.

Drawing comparisons to New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Adams was awarded the fifth star in 247’s latest rankings, and is now listed as the No. 9 player in the country in his class. Adams was one of the more impressive wide receivers among the elite group to attend Nike’s event, and drew constant praise about his abilities at a position he doesn’t even play full-time yet.

Adams’ athleticism is on clear display as a quarterback, wide receiver, or center fielder on the baseball team. He can even throw down on the hardwood if he wants to. He’s expected to suit up for the Diamond Heels in Chapel Hill as well as playing on Saturdays in Kenan Stadium.

His fifth star and top ten ranking make Adams one of the best recruits Carolina has had in quite some time. The Tar Heels have landed a number of highly-regarded four-star guys for their upcoming classes, but Adams gives them a crown jewel in the mix. UNC’s football recruiting continues to soar under Larry Fedora and company, and all of Adams’ hard work to earn himself that fifth star will surely pay off when he finally makes it to campus.
