Part of what makes SB Nation sites so special is the sense of community that exists among people who comment every day. Whether you have commented here for years or have just been hanging around waiting for the perfect time to jump in, here’s a little push to get involved and allow the rest of us to get to know you a little better!

Each Friday we will have a prompt for you to follow on the subject of UNC/sports/UNC sports/etc. Head over to our Fanpost section on the side of the page to write your response, and we’ll promote the best ones. It’s a great way to get involved or work your way into joining the staff, if that’s something you’re interested in. Happy writing!

One of the first things I want to know about fellow Tar Heels I meet is how they ended up as a fan of Carolina. A lot of those answers involve being born into it, which many of us can identify with. Sometimes the stories are something I’d have never thought of. Seriously, Tar Heel Blog staff writer Matt Ferenchick has a pretty awesome story about how he ended up a fan of the Heels.

So how did you become a fan of the Tar Heels? Were you put into a Carolina blue onesie at birth with the fight song used as your lullaby? Did you receive an acceptance letter from UNC and go all in? We’d love to hear your story. It can be as short or as long as you’d like.

I’ve shared my story here before, but in case you may be new: I was definitely born into it. I knew from my first trips to Chapel Hill as a kid that there was no other university I wanted to attend and no other team I wanted to root for. Getting my acceptance letter remains one of the best days of my life.

There’s nothing like being in Chapel Hill for me. It’s an instant mood-lifter to just walk into the Dean Dome, or Kenan, or stroll down Franklin Street. It’s my favorite place on Earth, truly. The Carolina Family really is something that gets into you and never leaves.

So now it’s your turn. How did you become a Tar Heel fan? Let us know in the Fanpost section!
