In a game like this, it is difficult to pick a player of the game. The North Carolina Tar Heels played a team game, especially on the boards. The Heels had as many offensive rebounds as Georgia Tech had defensive rebounds (19). Carolina turned those 19 offensive rebounds into 26 points.
Theo Pinson’s efforts on the glass stand out. His 10 rebounds match a career high that was set earlier this season against Florida State. This was Pinson’s third straight game with more than 10 points, and second career double-double. Here is his rundown from yesterday’s game:
Theo Pinson Stat Line vs. Georgia Tech 1-20-18

Pinson made use of his size, not only with his 10 rebounds, but his shot selection. All but one field goal attempt from Pinson was in the paint. His lone three-point attempt was good. These high percentage shots is an encouraging trend, especially in his last three games.
Luke Maye led Carolina with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Joel Berry II and Cam Johnson added 16 each.
One of the most encouraging performances of the afternoon was Sterling Manley. He made the most of his 12 minutes on the floor. He made all four field goals attempted, with three of those being dunks. He added a free throw to match his career high of nine points.
The Tar Heels are back in action on Monday night at Virginia Tech.
