The University of North Carolina has announced that freshman guard Jalek Felton has been suspended from the school. No further details were provided, citing privacy laws. Felton will, obviously, not be able to participate in any athletic activities.
With Seventh Woods being injured, Felton provided the only real option to back up Joel Berry II at point guard. He’d appeared in all 22 of the Tar Heels’ games this season. Without Felton being an option going forward, the picture behind Berry at point guard gets even more blurry.
Speculation about what Felton did to earn the suspension will likely run rampant until details are provided, if we ever get them. Who knows what happened for it to get to this point, but it’s obviously bad enough that being suspended from just the team was not punishment enough.

UNC’S FELTON SUSPENDED FROM THE UNIVERSITY
CHAPEL HILL –University of North Carolina freshman guard Jalek Felton has been suspended from the University, and therefore is not currently eligible to participate in any University activities.
Due to federal privacy laws, that is the extent to which the University can comment.
The West Columbia, S.C., native has played in all 22 games this season. He is averaging 2.9 points and 1.6 assists per game.
Carolina plays at Clemson tonight (Jan. 30) at 7 p.m.
