Things have been tough on the road for the Tar Heels. Their only victory outside of Chapel Hill in conference play came on a prayer at Notre Dame when a last-second shot bounced around and ultimately off the rim.
Although Carolina was able to keep the streak in Chapel Hill alive against Clemson, playing at Littlejohn is not easy. UNC will also have to do it without an obvious backup point guard with Jalek Felton having been suspended from the university. Look for Theo Pinson to run the point a bit to spell Joel Berry II when possible.
Kenny Williams and Cameron Johnson have been stuck in a shooting slump since the last time these two teams met. Johnson caught fire against the Tigers in the Dean Dome, so hopefully they can warm him back up again. The offense could really use it.
The defense could use some help too. That was the team’s downfall against NC State on Saturday. UNC needs to find a way to guard the perimeter while also not getting man-handled in the paint. Easy, right?
Again, unfortunately things don’t get easier from here. Hopefully the Heels can shake off the prior two disappointments and get back in the win column tonight. That would make everything feel a little less dire.
We’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup, as always. Until then...
Go Heels!
