We’re approaching early commitment season for basketball! Big things could be in store for Roy Williams and the Heels. On the football side... not much. It’s the middle of the season. Let’s get started:
Football:
I’ve been hyping up Tony Davis, the 4-star safety who de-committed from Duke this past summer, as a likely UNC commit for some time now. This seems to no longer be the case, for unknown reasons. UNC is now off Davis’ radar and the staff’s efforts will be focused elsewhere.
Nothing to see this week about the UNC recruiting situations drawing the most intrigue, namely those of CJ Clark and Sam Howell. We’ll let you know when we know anything more.

Basketball
Earlier today, Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog confirmed that Jeremiah Robinson-Earl is down to two schools, Kansas and Villanova, and will announce a decision in the coming weeks. This means, of course, that he has eliminated UNC.
The two big names left for UNC this fall are, in all likelihood, Keion Brooks and Boogie Ellis. There are offers out to Vernon Carey and Matthew Hurt, but those two are where most of the staff’s efforts have gone recently. The discussion for Brooks has treated it almost like a foregone conclusion that he is Big Ten-bound, but I continue to believe he likes UNC more than we think he does. He officially visits campus next weekend.
Cole Anthony, of course, is still the big fish for UNC. There are whispers that UNC leads for him, but Oregon is also a big player for him. His official visit there seemed to go very well (as official visits tend to), though we did get this hilarious bit of recruiting from Armando Bacot:
