Thursday evening, the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s soccer team defeated Notre Dame to remain perfect in the conference schedule. The Tar Heels are ranked third in the nation and are leading the ACC.

Since their back-to-back losses versus Santa Clara and Stanford at the beginning of September, Carolina has won five straight:

  • Florida State 1-0
  • Pitt 3-0
  • Clemson 1-0
  • Louisville 5-1
  • Notre Dame 2-1

The Heels have outscored their opponents 11-2 in conference play, including three straight shutouts against their first three ACC foes.

Carolina’s 5-1 victory over Louisville last Saturday was their biggest thus far in the ACC. Both teams were undefeated and had not allowed a goal in conference play.

Alessia Russo and Taylor Otto continued their hot streak Thursday night versus Notre Dame. Russo and Otto each had a pair of goals against Louisville, then the duo had a goal each versus the Irish.

Otto’s game winner Thursday night was scored in the 85th minute and was her team leading fifth of the season.

Looking ahead, the Tar Heels have two straight road games and finish the regular season with three home games.

  • 10/7/18 at Syracuse
  • 10/13/18 at Virginia Tech
  • 10/18/18 vs. Boston College
  • 10/21/18 vs. Miami
  • 10/25/18 vs. Wake Forest
