The Tar Heels take on the Cardinal in their home-opener.

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Wofford Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

After two games on the road to begin the 2018-2019 season, the Tar Heels come home to the Dean Dome tonight for their home-opener against the Stanford Cardinal. Former UNC assistant coach Jerod Haase is in his third season with Stanford, and these two teams met last year in a 96-72 UNC win.

Carolina was able to dominate Elon on the boards in their victory Friday night, as well as cutting down on some of the costly turnovers they committed in their game against Wofford. Add 50 bench points and you have what felt like a complete victory. However, senior Kenny Williams has really yet to get going offensively this season. Williams made an astounding six three-pointers in the first half against the Cardinal last season, so hopefully they can help him find his stroke again this time around.

One thing that has been a welcome development is the production UNC has gotten out of the freshmen so far. Coby White looked much more comfortable in the Elon game than he did against Wofford, and Nassir Little was a force off the bench against the Phoenix. That’s a good trend heading into the Heels’ challenging non-conference schedule.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
