This afternoon, the North Carolina Tar Heels will welcome the NC State Wolfpack into Kenan Stadium for their annual showdown. UNC is coming off of their second win of the season against Western Carolina, while the Wolfpack are coming off of a dominating performance against the the Louisville Cardinals.
The Tar Heels football season couldn’t have been a longer sports season in Chapel Hill, as there was more pain endured this year than any season of recent memory. Yes, that includes last season, as a lot of that could be blamed on an issue with attrition given that so much of the roster ended up injured. Would things have gone any different last year if the players were healthy? Well, it’s hard to say, but given how things went last year I’d probably say no. In fact, one could argue that the reason UNC did so well the previous two seasons is because there was way too much talent on the team for Larry Fedora’s coaching struggles to shine through.
So then, will this be the last game that Larry Fedora ever coaches for the Tar Heels? Will Bubba Cunningham’s heart grow three sizes thanks to Christmas spirit and spare him? Or, in perhaps the rarest scenario, will Larry Fedora save his own job by taking down a 7-3 football team in the Atlantic division? It’s time for us to go to the grocery store and purchase all the popcorn that we can fit in our vehicles, because it will be an interesting postseason in Chapel Hill.
Until then, it’s time for a football game to be played. I encourage each and everyone of you who will join us today to send in all of your cute animal pictures should things get extremely ugly. You got my back? I got your back.
Go Heels!
