The Heels try to make it 2-0 on the season.

NCAA Basketball: North Carolina at Wofford Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Tar Heels got a hard-fought victory on the road in their season-opener against Wofford earlier this week, and they’ll try to make it 2-0 on the road when they take on the Phoenix of Elon tonight.

UNC will be looking to cut down on their turnovers heading into tonight’s game after two lackluster performances protecting the basketball against Mount Olive and the Terriers. Aside from that, Roy Williams has to be trying to get his team into more of a groove. Whether out of frustration or experimentation, likely a bit of both, Williams has thrown a lot of different lineups onto the floor in hopes of something sticking. That won’t continue forever as he gets a better idea of who works best where.

One of the more interesting battles to keep an eye on will be the point guard situation. Coby White seems to have earned the starting position for now, but he looked out of control at times in the game against Wofford. That may just be freshman nerves that he has managed to work out of his system now that his first real collegiate game is under his belt.

We’ll be back after the game, as always, with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
