North Carolina’s Thursday night win over Duke was perhaps the most thrilling win of the season so far. Unfortunately, the Tar Heels haven’t gotten time to properly celebrate the win because of unreasonable scheduling that has them playing three games in five days.
The second game is one that feels like a must-win if UNC wants to continue riding the Duke high. NC State was able to come into the Dean Dome and pull out a victory in overtime. The Heels have to hope they can steal one on the road to return the favor.
We know that this game means a great deal to Roy Williams personally, because losing to State ranks highly on his list of least favorite things. The Heels have enjoyed a winning record on the road in conference for the last several seasons, and they need to pull out a win in Raleigh if they want to see that streak continue.
Here’s hoping that the Heels can play better perimeter defense than they did the last time these two teams met. And hopefully UNC’s three-point shot continues to fall the way it did in the game against Duke.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
