North Carolina’s mission last week was to find a way for fatigue to not be an issue during the middle of a three-games-in-five-days stretch. They handled that with wins over Duke, NC State, and Notre Dame. The mission this time is to not come out flat after a relatively long break since Monday’s win over the Fighting Irish.
Roy Williams has his team looking ready for March in the last few games. They’ve found ways to win games with different guys sharing the offensive load. Cameron Johnson, Kenny Williams, Theo Pinson, Luke Maye, and Joel Berry II have all had their moment in the sun in the Heels’ win streak. Getting that kind of balance is hugely important, especially for a team that relied so heavily on Berry to do their offensive bidding earlier this season.
Louisville does boast size inside that Carolina will have to contend with, but their rebounding is not on par with UNC’s. That’s where the Tar Heels have to do well in order to beat the Cardinals on the road. UNC has never won at the Yum! Center, and now would be a fantastic time to change that.
On the line is seeding in the ACC Tournament. UNC is still chasing the double bye in Brooklyn next month. Taking care of business against Louisville would help position them for that heading into the home stretch.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
