It has been an amazing stretch for the Tar Heels over the last five games. North Carolina finds themselves on a five-game win streak dating back to the home win against Pittsburgh on February 3rd. They can make it six straight tonight if they can take care of the Syracuse Orange on the road.
The Orange are coming off a win against Miami in their last game after previously losing to NC State at home. Jim Boeheim’s team enters tonight averaging 68 points per game, good enough for 291st in the nation. They are also 10th in points allowed at 63.4. Syracuse’s 2-3 zone has given Carolina problems in the past, but this year’s team seems more poised to make teams pay for that than teams in the past.
UNC is playing for ACC Tournament seeding while trying to lock up a double-bye in Brooklyn next month. They are also looking for a strong finish to position themselves favorably in the eyes of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. Syracuse is trying to play themselves into the NCAA Tournament by trying to find a quality win wherever they can.
We’ll be back after the game, as always, with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
