Let’s be honest: no accolade that Coby White attains at the high school level is any kind of a surprise anymore. The future Tar Heel clawed his way up the ranks following his commitment to UNC, and somehow he’s only managed to continue his upward trajectory. He is a McDonald’s All-American, will likely be a Jordan Brand Classic participant if one had to guess, and is North Carolina’s all-time leading career scorer. To little surprise, that’s not where it ends.
Coby White was named as one of a handful of players that will participant in the NC boys private school all-star game at Providence Day School. He will be one of two McDonald’s All-Americans participating in the event - Devon Dotson, a Kansas commit, will also participate in the event.

Coby White has had quite an exciting week, receiving his McDonald’s All-American jersey this past Wednesday in Greenfield High School’s gym. If you’ve seen Coby enough, you notice that he doesn’t show much emotion unless he’s on the court. This however, didn’t stop him from sharing his excitement about being honored in the historic high school all-star game:
“It’s a blessing,” White said on Wednesday. “It’s one of those days that you dreamed of. I watch the McDonald’s game every year just because of the talent and the upcoming stars. As a kid those are players that you look up to and you hear so much about, hoping that one day you can be on that same stage.”
Coby White has widely made his presence known as one of the top prospects in the country. So much in fact, that Big Baller Brand....CEO? Founder? Ok, that guy that yells a lot and forces his sons to play in random countries, Lavar Ball invited Coby White to join a basketball league that he made up in order to cheat the NCAA out of having the best players and to get them into the NBA. Without much surprise, White turned him down. Big Baller Brand always wins, except when it comes to stealing players from top college programs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
The NC private school all-star game will be on March 3rd at 2:30pm for those who are in the Charlotte area and would like to attend. Tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for students. Children under 8 will be able to get in for free.
