UNC Basketball: Duke Game Thread

The stakes are high as the Tar Heels head to the most unholy of places.

NCAA Basketball: Duke at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Waking up the morning of the Duke game feels different than most any other game. I can only explain this as the utter hatred I have for that school in Durham bubbling over its usual capacity. I hate them. I loathe them. I have serious questions about how people who choose to be fans of that team choose to live their life.

Carolina sent us all home happy when these two teams met in Chapel Hill, and hopefully they can do the same for the fans in light blue who decide to spend their evening in the Cameron Greenhouse. If the Heels win, they get the double-bye in next week’s ACC Tournament regardless of what happens below them in the current standings. Lose, and they’ll need help to postpone playing until Thursday in Brooklyn.

Few things would feel as sweet as being able to ruin Grayson Allen’s Senior Night while grabbing the double-bye at the same time. To get there, the Heels will have to shoot better than they did in their last game. They’ll even have to shoot better than they did for most of the first half in their last meeting against the Blue Devils. You’ll recall that UNC went on a tear to open the second half that propelled them to victory. Hopefully the three-point shot is falling this evening.

I really hate them. I really want to beat them. I really want to avoid playing on Wednesday in New York. Please win, Heels.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete rundown of all the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
