UNC Recruiting: Week of 5/7

Fedora has a new recruit, and we have a new look for our weekly recaps.

Welcome to this week’s installment of Tar Heel Blog’s recruiting update. For this week, we will be trying a new format in order to provide a more broad window into what is going on with recruiting across both football and basketball. The ultimate goal is to provide better coverage for things that require in-depth analysis, and to also better highlight things that do not. Below you will find that we now have a recruiting board, which will reflect players who have been offered and/or have committed. Due to the extremely large number of football offers out there, we will stick to commitments only for now. Our staff will work diligently throughout each week to keep everything up-to-date so that you as fans have the most accurate information possible.

In addition to the recruiting board, we will provide recruiting notes for anything that’s happened for the week. We will also provide quotes from staff, players, and when applicable, various media outlets that we think are valuable to our readers. This past week, Roy Williams and Larry Fedora were on the Ram’s Club Tar Heel Tour, and so it has been a bit of a light news week. Without further ado, let’s jump into this week’s update.

Recruiting Notes

  • Four-star 2019 recruit Jalen Wilson announced his final 6 list earlier this week, with UNC not making the final cut. Roy Williams never made an offer to Wilson, which is what likely led to Wilson moving on from the Heels. Schools on his list include Kansas, Michigan, UCLA, Baylor, Marquette, and Oklahoma State.
  • Kentucky Wildcats transfer Sacha Killeya-Jones is in the process of setting up official visits to the schools he is considering taking his talents to. UNC is still on his radar, though no visit has been set up yet.
