Tar Heel Blog is looking for writers to join the team this fall

Come join us. We have fun.

Al Hood

The middle of summer is hard on the college sports fan. College baseball is over, college football is still over a month away, and it’s still almost too early to really start digging into what the new season will bring. Fortunately, football season will be here before long and the long summer hibernation of talking about our school of choice will get back into full swing.

2018 marks my third season as the editor-in-chief of Tar Heel Blog, and I am incredibly excited to see what this year will bring. The staff we have is smart, analytical, thoughtful, and funny as hell. I adore all of them. They all work very hard to bring you quality UNC content day after day and I’m always proud of what we’ve been able to create here.

That being said, we’re looking for a couple new voices to join us this fall. If writing about Carolina sports sounds like something you’d be interested in doing, we’d love to hear from you. Ideally, you would have a passion for writing about all corners of Tar Heel sports, but particularly football and basketball. It’s okay if one or the other is more your speed, we won’t judge.

If interested and you are a Carolina fan who is at least 18 years old, please respond to one of the following prompts by emailing your writing sample of at least 500 words to tarheelblog [at] gmail [dot] com by Tuesday, July 31.

Please note that writing here is not a full-time or part-time position, but a hobby that may earn you some beer money on the side.

  1. What is Carolina football’s ceiling in 2018 following a disappointing season and how do they reach it?
  2. What do you think will be the biggest strengths and weaknesses of this year’s Carolina basketball team?
