The Atlantic Coast Conference just released a press statement in regards to the future sites of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament. The tournament will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. in 2021, and in 2022 the ACC will make its return to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The announcement of these two sites solidify where the next four tournaments will be held. This March will mark the first time that the ACC Tournament has returned to North Carolina since 2015.
“The next four years of the ACC Tournament will be played in locations that are tremendously meaningful to the ACC, our players, coaches, alumni and fans,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “All four cities offer first class venues and hospitality for our league, and we appreciate the continued partnership with each of these outstanding communities.”
This will be the third time that each city has hosted the ACC Tournament. The conference had a great deal of success when hosting in Barclay’s Arena, setting back to back records in attendance in 2017 and 2018. Last year specifically, the ACC set a record for attendance at a college basketball event in Barclay’s with 18,157 fans in attendance for both semifinals games on Friday night, as well as the championship game on Saturday evening.
