UNC Football: Can the Tar Heels rebound in Week 2?

It can’t get much worse, right?

NCAA Football: North Carolina at California Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

For a lot of Carolina fans, Week 1 was an embodiment of all our worst fears. The offense looked inept for a large majority of the game, Nathan Elliott didn’t look like a Division I quarterback, and the defense was unable to hold off Cal after being on the field for long stretches of time.

The Tar Heels have a chance to wash the taste of last week out of everyone’s mouth if they can pick up a win in Greenville against East Carolina. The Pirates are coming off a season-opening loss to North Carolina A&T, so both teams are going to want to pick up that first win.

It feels like a lot of how today goes rests on the shoulders of Elliott. He is the only real option Larry Fedora has while Chazz Surratt is suspended, but he didn’t really look like an option at all against the Bears last week. This offense may only be able to go as far as Elliott can take them and he hasn’t proven he can take them anywhere yet.

We’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings, both good and bad.

As always, Go Heels!
