After starting conference play 2-0 with wins at Pittsburgh and NC State, the Tar Heels return home to Chapel Hill for their first home game of conference play Saturday afternoon. UNC squares off against Louisville, who lost their last game to the same Pitt team that UNC was able to take down on the road.
Carolina is still playing short-handed with Sterling Manley set to miss another game with a knee injury. Thankfully, Cameron Johnson’s injury against NC State turned out to be nothing more than cramps, so he should be good to go today. In Manley absence, Roy Williams will likely continue to turn to Nassir Little, Brandon Robinson, and Leaky Black more.
Garrison Brooks controlled his foul trouble slightly better in Raleigh, but still not nearly well enough with the Heels playing without their second option in the post. Whether or not Brooks can keep himself on the floor and out of foul trouble greatly impacts the defense and how many minutes Roy needs to steal from other players. Hopefully that’s a little better today against the Cardinals.
As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...
Go Heels!
