North Carolina is no stranger to having recruits in the McDonald’s All-American Game. It turns out 2019 will be no exception. UNC signee Armando Bacot was included on the list of 24 players who will take part in the 2019 edition of the game, which will be held in Atlanta on March 27th.
The center is the only definite future Tar Heel on the rosters, although there are others on the rosters still considering Carolina. Guard Cole Anthony, for whom UNC are considered one of, if the not, favorite, is among the 24. Other undecided players with North Carolina offers in the game are Anthony Edwards, Matthew Hurt, and Precious Achiuwa. Keion Brooks was a notable left off the list for the 2019 game.
Current Tar Heels took have taken part in the McDonald’s All-American game include Nassir Little and Coby White in 2018. Prior to that, Tony Bradley’s 2016 appearance was the only one from 2015-17.
UNC now having three or possibly more in two years does seem to track with the narrative that the Tar Heels have bounced back on the recruiting trail in the last two years. Of course the “down” years for recruiting produced a national champion team and another that played in the title game, so things weren’t exactly bad. Still though, it’s nice to see future Tar Heels get that recognition. Plenty of others have before, and now Bacot gets to add his name to that impressive list.
As we get closer to the game, we’ll have more information on how and where you can check out Bacot and any other future Tar Heels on March 27th.
