After a convincing win on Saturday against Pitt, the Tar Heels will see a major step up in competition tonight when they take on the fifteenth-ranked NC State Wolfpack. Carolina will be looking to show they’ve improved in their last three wins, while the Wolfpack will be looking to bolster their 339th ranked strength of schedule.
A lot of interesting numbers have popped up in this one, notably that this is the first time since 2009 that both teams will be ranked in the top 25. Roy Williams is 3-0 in those matchups, and per News & Observer’s Joe Giglio the Wolfpack have only won four of those matchups since 1975, three of them being in Raleigh. Either way, the Tar Heels should expect their most hostile crowd of the season thus far and the game should provide a good test for the Tar Heels.
