Don’t Punt to Gio Ep 24: All of the post-Clemson optimism

Its really hard to be mad about this game!

NCAA Football: Clemson at North Carolina Nell Redmond-USA TODAY Sports

Host Chad Floyd (@Chad_Floyd) is back with Jacob Cowden (@jacobcowden28), as the guys finally had a chance to re-watch the Tar Heels’ heartbreaking loss to Clemson. You know what that means— its time to get a little more granular!

Discussed:

  • #WellActually the two-point conversion play call was good! What leads us to this conclusion, were the Heels setting it up early in the game, and what would we have done differently?
  • Appreciation for Greg McIlroy making the point about how injured the Heels are.
  • More appreciation for the evolution of Sam Howell, the route-running of Dyami Brown, and the monsters at running back. Also, Jacob’s undying love for Marcus McKethian.
  • OH MY GOODNESS THE DEFENSE. Big ups to the linebackers, who played the best game by any position group on the year.
  • Why did the linebackers play so well? Some new wrinkles by Jay Bateman to free them up. We might finally understand some of the nuances of his defense. (Side note: make him HCIW now.)

Enjoy!
