UNC vs. Duke: The battle for the Victory Bell is finally here

It’s time to see if Mack Brown has what it takes to end the Heels’ losing streak against the Blue Devils.

After what was a very long, painful, and unnecessary six-overtime loss against Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels are back in Kenan Stadium for their Homecoming matchup against Duke. The Blue Devils are coming off a 48-14 loss to Virginia, and they need this game almost as much as UNC does in order to stay in the running for the Coastal Division.

Should the Tar Heels come out on top in this game, they will go into their game against Virginia next week still on shaky ground, but a win against the Cavaliers would also be enough to keep them firmly in the Coastal conversation. Both teams at the top of the division right now have one loss, and giving Virginia a loss would be huge in making the standings a lot more interesting. However, that’s next week, and this week the Heels have to find a way to stop Duke and what has mostly been a high-powered offense. The defense is going to have to do a lot better than they did last week if they want any hope of bringing the Victory Bell back to Chapel Hill, but also the offense has to keep rolling with the momentum they obtained last week as well.

As always, we’ll be back after the game with a complete roundup of the happenings. Until then...

Go Heels!
